The Stewart Park Festival Committee is recruiting for the volunteer position of Chairperson.

The Stewart Park Festival is an open access, family-friendly 3 day music festival in Stewart Park, a beautiful park by the Tay River in Perth. Heading into its 35th year, the festival has grown into one of the Town’s premier community events showcasing a diverse range of music on several stages, an arts, crafts and food market, children’s activities and licensed after-hours music. The mandate of the Festival is to provide a quintessential laid back summer celebration of music and community. By attracting thousands of attendees from near and far the festival promotes the Town of Perth as a bustling, four-season destination and Ontario’s leading historic downtown.

The Festival is produced by the Stewart Park Festival Committee (SPFC), a volunteer standing committee of the Perth BIA , which is in turn sanctioned by the Corporation of the Town of Perth. The mandate of the SPFC is the overall planning and organization of the Stewart Park Festival, with administrative support from the Perth BIA, logistical support from the Town of Perth and community support from over 120 volunteers during the festival.

The SPFC is looking for that applicant, ideally with festival experience, who is willing to donate their time, skills and enthusiasm to the task of overseeing and coordinating the general planning and functioning of the various festival components. As Chairperson, you will set meeting agendas and help guide the committee through making decisions on the following topics:

  • Community involvement and engagement

  • Event Planning

  • Budget preparation and financial supervision

  • Event Marketing, publicity and social media

  • Fundraising through grants, sponsorship and donations

  • Human Resource & Team management

  • Safety, Security, Liability, Compliance

The new SPF Chairperson will become a member of the Perth BIA Board of Directors and will be required to attend the monthly BIA board meetings, reporting to the BIA on Festival plans, operations and finances

The successful applicant will receive strong support from an experienced and committed team of volunteer committee members, who are each responsible for coordinating and managing a major component of the festival:

  • Artistic Director Jamie Campbell – 3 years

  • Sponsorship and Donations Coordinator – Diana Bracegirdle – 10 years

  • Volunteer Coordinator – Tom Nephin (a long time volunteer, this will be Tom’s first year in this position)

  • Marketplace Coordinator – Anne Davis – 6 years

  • On-Site Coordinator – Peter Cochrane – 8 years

  • Main Stage Coordinator – Susan Thompson – 4 years

  • Wendy Laut Stage Coordinator/MC – David Kroetsch – 2 years

  • Crystal Palace Coordinator – Shawn Vernier – 4 years

  • Assistant Crystal Palace Coordinator – David Murray – 4 years

  • Music Tent Coordinator – Gary Waterfield – 4 years

  • Information & Souvenirs Booth Coordinator – Shannon Riley – 1 year

  • First Response Coordinator – Samantha Wheeler – (new to this position)

  • Treasurer and BIA Representative – Dawn Bell – 2 years

  • BIA Coordinator – Nancy Wing – 1 year
