Blackburn Brothers
Artist Bio
Rooted in history and powered by soul, the Blackburn Brothers are redefining Canadian blues. Descended from Underground Railroad freedom seekers and carrying forward the musical legacy of their father, Toronto R&B legend Bobby Dean Blackburn, these fourth-generation Canadians infuse every performance with a deep sense of heritage, unity, and love.
Their signature blend of blues, soul, and funk is more than music—it’s a message. A tribute to Black history, family, freedom, and resilience. Whether performing at major festivals across North and Central America or sharing the stage with icons like Mavis Staples and Dr. John, the Blackburn Brothers captivate audiences with powerful storytelling and electrifying talent.
Their 2023 release SoulFunkn’BLUES has received international acclaim, earning a 2024 JUNO nomination and three American Blues Music Awards nominations—the first ever for a Canadian band. With a record-breaking nine Maple Blues Award nominations in 2024 and their induction into the Canada South Blues Society Hall of Fame, the brothers are being celebrated as trailblazers.
Through generations of history and a future-forward sound, the Blackburn Brothers are keeping the blues alive—boldly, soulfully, and unapologetically Canadian.
