Nicholas Art and Cornshuckery

Marilyn Nicholas has been creating enchanting dolls from the husks of corn for over 28 years: charming Old World Santas, graceful Angels, Victorian ladies in their flowing gowns, working Women from pioneer days. It has been a “few” years since she graduated from the Algonquin Fine Arts program where she studied painting, film animation, sculpture and photography. A bit more recently she became a graduate of the Loyalist College Television Broadcasting program, which lead her to a career in TV as a producer/video editor where she has worked for 24 + years. It is a busy life working in TV, but she finds serenity in the process of the doll-making – shaping the husks into whatever inspires her – a charming Old World Santa, a graceful Angel or a working Woman from pioneer days.
