Students from across the region will put their musical talent to work on Thursday, May 18 when they take part in the annual Stewart Park Festival Coffeehouse.
Taking place at the Perth Tea Room on Gore Street, the evening event will showcase four acts from four Lanark County-based high schools. The annual concert gives high school students the chance to perform in front of a live audience while auditioning for a spot at the Festival’s Youth Showcase on Friday, July 14, 2017.
“We’ve really seen some amazing talent over the years, and once again we’re looking forward to seeing what each performer brings this year,” says Stewart Park Festival Chair John McKenty.
The following students are slated to perform at the Coffeehouse:
C.P.H.S. Cashmen Ford + Mackenzie Mayne
S.F.D.C.I Stephanie Spencer
P.D.C.I. Khalil Bailey
S. J. C. H. S. Alyssa Fluit + Reilly Donnelly + Nolan Giroux + Daniel Mercier + Jessica Wedden
Their 20-minute set will give each group the chance to perform a few songs. The judging panel will then decide who will perform at the Festival’s Youth Showcase. The top performers will also earn their high school music program a $500 honorarium.
The Stewart Park Festival Coffeehouse will take place on Thursday, May 18 at 7 p.m. and the public is welcome to attend and admission is free.
